SCHOOLS FUNDING

I will press for increased support for schools in the County, which have  a long history of under-funding. The Tories’ recently announced 5% increase per-pupil remains far from enough.

Education drives social mobility and prosperity, individually and nationally, so is fundamental to the welfare of our children and young people. Specific issues that I will address are:

• The recruitment, training and retention of talented practitioners

• Accelerating schools into the 21st Century, ending technological disparity between some local private schools and state schools.

Provide (not rely on goodwill for) extra sessions to ensure every student achieves their best possible GCSEs.

Update to modern standards existing Village Colleges and primary schools, and extend them where essential to accommodate an increasing population.
