SCHOOLS FUNDING

I will press for increased support for schools in the County, which have  a long history of under-funding. The Tories’ recently announced 5% increase per-pupil remains far from enough. 

Education drives social mobility and prosperity, individually and nationally, so is fundamental to the welfare of our children and young people. Specific issues that I will address are:

• The recruitment, training and retention of talented practitioners

• Accelerating schools into the 21st Century, ending technological disparity between some local private schools and state schools.

• Provide (not rely on goodwill for) extra sessions to ensure every student achieves their best possible GCSEs.

• Update to modern standards existing Village Colleges and primary schools, and extend them where essential to accommodate an increasing population.
